Ctg lawyer killing: Father files murder case against 31

Father of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, who was hacked to death during a violent clash on the Chattogram court premises, has lodged a murder case against 31 named persons and 10 to 15 unidentified individuals.
The clash occurred on Tuesday between the followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, police, and lawyers.
Saiful’s father Jamal Uddin filed the case with Kotwali Police Station, ADC (Public Relations) Kazi Tarek Aziz of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) told The Daily Star. According to the statement filed by Jamal Uddin, the attackers — some named in the FIR — armed with weapons such as machetes, tridents, and cleavers carried out a premeditated attack on Saiful while chanting slogans for expelling ISKCON leader Chinmoy. Saiful was attacked on his way home.
The father further claimed that individuals affiliated with political organisations, including the Chhatra League, Jubo League, Awami League, and their associated groups, had either directly or indirectly instigated the murder. This information, he said, came to light through Saiful’s colleagues and local sources following his death.
Filing of another case by Saiful’s brother, Khan-e-Alam, accusing 115 people of attacking lawyers and vandalising the court building during the confrontation is underway.
Meanwhile, police have filed three cases against 79 named individuals and 1,400 unidentified people over the assault, vandalism, and obstruction of police during the clash. Authorities have arrested 34 people, including nine suspects linked to Saifuls murder. The nine suspects were identified through video footage, according to police.
