    See my other auctions for more early American military insignias-both dug and non-dug.  Very nice original pin Used by a soldier of the 3rd Infantry. Early stamped brass insignia that had the numbers and letter attached with solder-and completely lead filled.  Nice condition-just missing the pin on the back. These date to the 1874-85 period, and are far rarer then the solid brass type that were developed in the 1890's.  Measures approx. 2 1/2" wide.  Great display item!
