Claude Humphrey played college football for Tennessee State University and was named All-American in 1967.  He was the 3rd overall draft pick in the First Round of the 1968 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons.  Humphreys wasted no time justifying his first round pick status... He was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie Of The Year in 1968.  He played for the Falcons for 10 years, 1968-1978.  He played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1979, 1980 and 1981.
In 1980 his 14-1/2 sacks helped the Eagles to an NFC Championship and an appearance against the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV, where he recorded 3 solo tackles.
