    Description

This is an awesome 1850 to 1890 US Militia uniform tailcoat of the pre-civil war and post civil war (Indian Wars) periods.
This uniform conveys a fantastic impression when Civil War epaulettes are attached as in the photos.  However
the epaulettes are not part of this sale
    .
There is no substantial insect damage although there are period repairs.
The silver bullion is worn a bit around the buttons in places and one the eagle/shield emblems has been removed from the left sleeve.
The front lower center button has been replaced but when a belt is attached this probably does not show.
The other buttons have mostly "Scoville Mfg Co * Waterbury"  back marks but one on the rear has no back mark and two on the front are a slightly smaller diameter.
The interior collar has been period repaired.
The sleeves have been let down.
All in all this uniform makes a unique display piece and is representative of the variety of militia uniforms worn during the period.
You are welcome to make a reasonable offer on this uniform.
