INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Henry Schein Manuka Honey Gel Sterile Wound Gel Henry Schein Manuka Honey Gel consists of 100% Leptospermum scoparium honey from New Zealand in an applicator tube. The honey’s high sugar levels result in osmotic activity that promotes autolytic debridement and helps maintain a moist environment conducive to wound healing.
Indications for Use:
Henry Schein Manuka Honey Gel is a sterile, single-use wound care gel in an applicator tube for use in moist wound management. Under the supervision of a healthcare professional, Henry Schein Manuka Honey Gel wound dressing may be used for: Minor abrasions and lacerations, Wounds requiring autolytic debridement, Superficial and partial thickness burns, Ulcers, Pressure sores, Surgical wounds
Directions for Use:
1. Remove cap, remove conductive seal, replace cap
2. Apply honey directly to wound or suitable primary dressing
3. Cover with appropriate secondary dressing.
Contra-Indications:
There is no record of increased blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes due to the use of honey dressings however, it is advisable to monitor the levels during use of Henry Schein Honey Gel. Temporary increased pain may be experienced due to osmotic action and/or the low pH of honey. If pain persists, discontinue use of the dressing and gently irrigate the wound with sterile saline solution.
DO NOT RE-USE: This is a single use dressing. If re-used there is a high risk of infection & cross contamination. Dressing change Depending on wound exudate, any surrounding interstitial fluid, edema and dressing protocol may require a daily application. In exuding wounds, the honey will be diluted by the exudate and absorbed into the secondary dressing. Re-apply as necessary.
