This 1966 GTO is a REAL YS-CODE 389ci 335hp V8 powered machine with a numbers matching block, Super Turbine 300 transmission, 3.23 limited slip rear end, and more. This car spent the majority of its life in South Carolina, so the sheet metal is in exceptional condition. There are no signs or any patches, metal work, chicken wire, crushed up beer cans,  or anything else. Metal thickness shows the panels to all be factory stock thickness, with no cheap knock-off panels to be found. There is no sign of any rot, rust, or bondo on the car, and a 4 inch square felt magnet sticks like glue to every section of the painted car without issue.
PHS documents and the cowl tag show the car to originally be finished in Cameo Ivory, but in 2008 when the car was restored, it was completely redone in a more eye-catching R-Code MONTERO RED. The finish shows incredibly well, thanks to the car seeing limited use since painted, and spending the majority of its life since restored in a climate-controlled collection. A non-stock white vinyl top was also installed, and really gives the car a classic GTO look with the matching white pinstripe running down the flanks.
All of the chrome, trim, stainless, emblems, and brightwork was new or restored during the 2008 resto, and it still all presents like new in every way. Factory Rally wheels show like new, and are wrapped in  225/70/14 redline radials all around with over 90% of the useable tread life remaining.
Inside, the car was originally built with a black interior, but the owners at the time of the resto wanted it to be red, so an all-new red interior was fit to the car including seat covers, door panels, dash, steering wheel, carpeting, kick panels, fill panels, headliner and more! It still shows exceptionally well throughout, and really looks perfect with the red exterior. Dash has new wood grain appliques, and is fit with restored factory gauges which are all functional including the tachometer and rare console mounted vacuum gauge with a functional AM/FM radio (don’t worry, the original AM unit still works and is included in the sale!). The refurbished center console shows wonderfully, and even the Just In Case GRAB HANDLE is like new! New red seatbelts are a nice touch for safety’s sake, and the trunk was fitted with a new mat set and spare tire cover for the OG full size spare and jack kit.
The 389 under the hood is the original YS code motor born with the car, according to casting number and date code (partial vin wasn’t a thing at Pontiac until 1967). It was fully rebuilt by Gellner Engineering, and comes with all the receipts for the work done which totaled ,200! There are just over 4500 miles on the car since it was completed, and it still runs, performs, and feels like a fresh resto in every way. Correct turquoise engine paint and chrome valve covers look great, but the usual flaking on the exhaust crossover is evident simply because the car has been driven and enjoyed.
Power steering and power brakes all came with the car, and are all refreshed and working like they should. The rare Super Turbine 300 transmission is PERFECT for this car, providing exceptional off the line power, a solid tire chirp into second, and a tall ride out to top speed that is only limited by your desire keep your foot down! 3.23 limited slip rear gives enough gearing for highway cruising, and the car rides like a dream on the freeway!
A custom fabricated exhaust system sounds fantastic, and shows like new, and the rest of the car benefits from the upgraded shocks, brakes, U-joints, bushings, and springs, all with under 4500 miles since installation.
It comes to you with a full set of PHS documents, display show board, numerous original and extra parts, and a clean and clear title ready for a new owner.
